Taking steps to fight pancreatic cancer...
Participate in an upcoming Marathon, 1/2 Marathon or a 5K Walk
There are many ways you can make a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer ... many individuals choose these types of events to honour a loved one or to simply give something back to a charity that holds a special place in your heart.
Most Marathons offer participants the choice of what event to compete in ... a full or half marathon and in most cases a 5k walk.
Johanna lost her father and boyfriend to pancreatic cancer and is twice as motivated to fight pancreatic cancer. Watch her inspirational You Tube tribute - What do I Stand for - to honour their memory and raise funds for research.
Here's how you can get started:
1 Register directly with the marathon/race/bike ride of your choice.
2 Create your own fundraising page. *Please check to see if there is a Pancreatic Cancer Canada Fundraising Page associated with the event, if not, create one with us.
3 Set a fundraising goal. The process is simple. Once you have registered with the marathon, click on our register now button located to the right and you’re on your way to fundraising success!
4 Tell everyone! Spread the word about your fundraiser and why you're committed to making a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
Are you part of a Group?
Same process! Just indicate you’re the team lead and everyone else can join your team and set up their own fundraising pages.
Want to be Virtual Participant?
Princess Margaret Hospital encourages you to register with them and participate in your neighbourhood on the same day as part their event. You don't need to pay the registration fee just find a park or favourite trail and walk your preferred distance and be part of a day designated to raising funds for pancreatic cancer. * Remember to select pancreatic cancer research ( when asked where you want your fundraising dollars to go), to insure that the funds are earmarked for our mutual cause.
Upcoming Marathons you can register with ... most offer a full, 1/2 and a 5k
* Remember - in addition to creating your personal fundraising page, you need to register with the marathon of your choice.
