Pick a FIGHT...

Invisible but ever present, leaving few to speak against you … We choose to PICK A FIGHT for those that you have taken and for those that still resist your fury … We’ll be the ones running with purple ribbons … Be afraid, because now it’s our turn!” - Victor Tam

LIndsay and StefThe FIGHT PANCREATIC CANCER shirt has now become a symbol of HOPE in our collective fight to end pancreatic cancer. Lindsay Tam a.k.a. Carrie Ng Grace or the Taminator, along with her friend, Stefanie Lamond (pictured on the left), co-created this inspirational shirt in hopes of raising awareness of the need to find a cure.

Sadly, Lindsay passed away at the young age of 26 on November 4, 2011 after a 5 year battle with this relentless disease. Gone far too soon, Lindsay personified “THE GOOD FIGHT” … she was not only a leader but an inspiration and a true champion for our mutual cause.

Last spring, just prior to the Princess Margaret Hospital 5K Walk in Toronto, Lindsay and Stefanie worked together and designed the concept for their Pick a FIGHT team shirt. Stefanie thought it would be a great idea to use a series of words to form the word – FIGHT! Excited about the concept, Lindsay responded, “I love the t-shirt design idea you had ... I've gone through the list of words you initially came up with and made a  chart of the words I'd like to be on the t- shirt.”

stef's design modified mar 2012.jpgAfter finalizing the word selection, Lindsay contacted Pancreatic Cancer Canada to see if we wanted to adopt the FIGHT shirt as a symbol of unification and hope, “I'm forwarding you the t–shirt design Stefanie (my bro’s gf) came up with for our team for race day… let me know what you think!”

After tweaking the design so that the words that formed ‘FIGHT’ became more pronounced, we revisited the original “Pick a Fight” design which was inspired by Lindsay’s brother, Victor’s quote. Because there was a similarity to a slogan used by Livestrong/Nike on apparel, Lindsay contacted us and said, “I was thinking if we wanted to use them in the future and to sell them on the website, then we would definitely have to change them... so do you think it's a good idea to maybe tweak the phrase a bit and come up with something else?”FPC shirt

The end result … 'FIGHT PANCREATIC CANCER' on the front and the PCC logo on the back. This shirt has become an inspiration to many people, “I love all the words,” Betty Aldridge said, “they are powerful and meaningful.”

On May 6th, 2012, family and friends will once again don their shirts to honour their brave warrior and continue her fight by participating in the Princess Margaret Hospital Run or Walk to Conquer Cancer. Together, with Pancreatic Cancer Canada,Lindsay at finish line they will form a purple wave of HOPE in support of lifesaving research and to honour those currently battling pancreatic cancer and those who have fought “The Good Fight”.

Bring on this battle
And I will be victorious
Give me some time
And I will change the world
I know a peace
That no one else can wrestle away
I have found a place where
everything will be better than okay.
