LONDON, ON, May 24, 2012 /CNW/ - TEMPUR-Canada, the Canadian distributor of Tempur-Pedic^® Swedish Mattresses and Pillows™ announced today that they will sponsor a Teddy Bear Picnic on June 16, 2012 to help support the efforts of the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

The picnic will take place on Saturday, June 16^th at Springbank Gardens, located at 205 Wonderland Road S. in London, ON from 10am-1pm. This fun filled family event will feature games, music and lunch for all. The headlining musical act is "Music with Brian" a Juno nominated children's entertainer from Caledon, Ontario and was the recipient of the 2011 Parent's Choice Award. The picnic will conclude with a Teddy Bear Parade and lunch provided by Boston Pizza.

Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in Canada and quite possible the deadliest. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, an estimated 4,100 new cases of pancreatic cancer were diagnosed in 2011. Despite significant advancements in the treatments of other cancers, pancreatic cancer remains largely incurable. The majority of cases aren't caught in the early stages when the tumor is most treatable. As a result, only about 6 percent of patients live at least five years after diagnosis and pancreatic cancer remains the only one of the top ten cancers with a five year survival rate still in the single digits.

TEMPUR-Canada has been supporting the National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation with their fundraising efforts since January 2011 with the launch of their Tempur-Pedic Hugs Back campaign.
