Where you begin

Where you begin

holding hands.jpgAugust 2, 2012 10:30 we are told my 51 year old husband has pancreatic cancer. It has spread to 3 liesons on the liver. It is not operatal. Our best chance is chemotherapy. Dr. L broke the news as best he could. He gave us all the facts, showed us all the scans, read the reports. Without chemo my husband would only have 6 to 9 months to live.

We had sat for an hour in the waiting room before our appointment. The clinic was so busy. I watched the people come and go. There were people that were clearly in advanced cancer.

There was a lovelyl young woman with her shunt and her medication IV tucked into her purse.

The young boy who was about 5. Asleep in his stroller, coming out of the liver clinic.

The old, the young, the new patients and their loved ones.

My conclusion:

We are not alone.
We are not unqiue.
This did not happen to our family because of anything.
It just happens.

We held hands in the waiting room. We held hands throughout it all. We held hands and the tears flowed as we walked out through the waiting room.
