In Memory of Nancy J. Metcalfe

Nancy - life partner of Rob, mother of Melissa, (Drew) & Michael, sister of Leanne (Roy) & Richard (Joanne) grandmother of Quynten, Regan & Keira

Nancy was diagnosed with stage 4, pancreatic cancer, which had metastasized, on December 22, 2011. Despite the shocking diagnosis she chose to heed her oncologist's advice and begin aggressive chemo therapy. Unfortunately after the 1st treatment she developed numerous side effects. She was immediately hospitalized but her condition did not improve. Within two days she was in ICU, on life support. Miraculously she recovered and within a week, she was moved to a recovery floor in the hospital.
Again, she chose to continue with a modified chemo therapy regime. Sadly she continued to have negative side effects. She was never able to return home again and lost her three months and 14 days battle with cancer on April 4, 2012.
Throughout her illness she remained positive and courageous. She had plans and dreams she still wanted to fulfill. Her family surrounded her with love and support. Her friends did the same. But, despite her courage and all the love and support, cancer claimed her life.
Although Nancy's story is short and could be considered discouraging, we think of it as valiant and brave. She continuously chose treatment, which to us meant, she continuously chose to support cancer research.

We hope that you will share in our belief and support Pancreatic Cancer Canada, just as Nancy did with her life.
She will always be remembered and loved.
