Help us turn Canada purple ...

This November, we are asking communities to help us shine a light on Canada's deadliest disease. We see the purple light as a symbol of hope and a way to draw attention to a disease that remains severely underfunded and misunderstood.

Last year, many iconic landmarks including BC Place, Calgary's Telus Spark, the CN Tower, Niagara Falls and.the legislative buildings in NB and NL were bathed in purple to raise awareness of the 4th leading cause of cancer death in Canada. Click here to view our Purple Lights YouTube video.

We thank the many individuals who contacted iconic buildings on our behalf or strung purple lights on their homes and businesses to honour loved ones and make the 2013 purple lights awareness campaign a success.

If you would like to get involved this year, please contact us at purplelights@pancancanada.ca.

N.B. Our shipment of purple lights has arrived. You can place your order online through our shop. We are also selling lawn signs (L) to help shed light on our Purple Lights Campaign and National Awareness Month.

Learning through experiences ...

A few weeks ago, we sent out a survey directed at those living with pancreatic cancer and their caregivers. Information gathered will be used to better understand the needs and experiences of those affected by this disease.

Thanks to your feedback, KRC Research (an independent marketing group conducting this survey) has agreed to modify the survey to include the experiences of those who have lost a loved one to this devastating disease.

Your support is vital ... the more people who take this survey, the better the data. Information collected will be used to help patients better understand their disease and ask the right questions so they can get the best possible treatment and care.

Click here to participate in the survey - All entries are anonymous.

World Pan Can Day

 spokespeople

In the spotlight ...

Spokespeople are a group of friends who have been cycling in and around Toronto for many years. Eleven years ago, they decided to designate their annual 40 km fall ride as a charity fundraiser and this year, they have chosen to support our cause.

Several members of the team have been impacted by this devastating disease. Sandi Leibovici lost her cherished Aunt Puica Goldenberg and Mark Spergel grew up never knowing his grandfather, Hyman Bolter. Recently, Mark lost his good friend, Arnie Vered, who fought a valiant battle and inspired so many people with his blog which was posted on our website.

The cycling group felt strongly that more funding was desperately needed to bring this dismal prognosis under control. If you want to read more about this initiative or support their efforts, click here.
