Pansies for Pancreatic Cancer

We are encouraging individuals and businesses to get involved and raise awareness of pancreatic cancer and the urgent need for more research. Currently, less than 2% of all government and charitable funding is earmarked to fight this deadly disease. Research is our best hope to detect it early and save lives.

We kicked off our annual campaign in BC earlier this month and volunteers will be selling pots of pansies across Canada during March, April and May depending on availability and weather. For more information or to get involved, click here.

A Day for Hope

In an ongoing effort to provide comprehensive information and support to patients, family members and caregivers, PCC held the 2nd Annual Gloria Pearl Educational Symposium in Toronto on November 1st, 2014 and expanded this initiative to Vancouver on December 6th.

Thanks to an educational grant from Celgene and the generosity of the Pearl Family (L with Paula Kim) and donors, we are pleased to provide video coverage of the Toronto Symposium (coverage from Vancouver will be available soon). Topics include Surgical Advances, Immunotherapies, the McCain Rapid Diagnostic Centre, Next Steps for the Patient and Stories of Hope - Living with Pancreatic Cancer. Click here to connect to our Educational Video Library.

Leading the Research Charge

Thanks to your continued support, we are increasing the number of researchers committed to studying this disease. Last summer, we held Canada’s first dedicated pancreatic cancer research competition.

Our intent was to spur innovative approaches to fighting this disease and tackle the under funding in pancreatic cancer research. We received several dozen submissions and based on a rigorous ranking system by leading Canadian Experts in the field of pancreatic cancer, we made the announcement on World Cancer Day 2015, that PCC has awarded five (5) Innovative Research Grants. Learn more about the recipients and their projects.

Putting her own unique spin on fundraising

Realizing how incredibly lucky she was to have her father cancer-free and a 5-year pancreatic cancer survivor, 17-year old Lauren Clarfield created Compete for the Cure in 2014; a one-day dodgeball and basketball charity tournament for high school students in the Toronto area. Lauren felt this was an important way to get youth engaged in fundraising and to support pancreatic cancer research with hopes of improving the overall survival rate for this deadly disease.

On January 11th, over 400 students from more than 25 high schools competed in the 2nd annual Compete for the Cure and raised an incredible $100,000.  We are so proud of Lauren and want to congratulate her on reaching this amazing milestone. With this experience under her belt, she plans to expand this event to cities across Canada. Read her story and watch video highlights from this memorable day.

THANK YOU … Your support is changing the face of pancreatic cancer research!

Every dollar you give is MAKING A DIFFERENCE in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

By targeting the best and most relevant research in Canada, we move one step closer to finding a cure. Last year, we partnered with leading cancer research centres including the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Pancreas Centre BC /BC Cancer Agency, the Ottawa Hospital and Goodman Cancer Research Centre/McGill University Health Centre to support cutting edge studies.

Click here to see how your generosity is advancing research across Canada. To date, we have contributed more than $3 million dollars to research that focuses on detection, genetics, personalized treatments and finding a cure.
